Where no speaker has gone before

You've got a classic vehicle that needs some music in it, but your vehicle didn't include factory speaker locations, and there's no room behind the factory panels for installing new speakers. Enter Retrosound's RetroPod modules.

Where no speaker has gone before

You've got a classic vehicle that needs some music in it, but your vehicle didn't include factory speaker locations, and there's no room behind the factory panels for installing new speakers. Enter Retrosound's RetroPod modules.

The RetroPod RPOD6A surface-mount modules let you choose the locations for new speakers in your vehicle. Mount the two modules on your kick panels, doors, rear deck, or any suitable flat surface, then run some speaker wire to your car stereo or amplifier. You can then install your choice of 6-1/2" speakers with a depth of less than 2-3/16" in the modules.

Customize your application

You can paint, wrap, or carpet the ABS plastic modules to match your interior. Their angled design helps to better direct sound towards your listening position for better imaging.

Installation note: Using the template that Retrosound provides, you'll need to cut and file the mounting hole in the modules for the speakers you install. You'll also need to drill mounting holes for screws that secure the speakers. The mounting tabs on the rear of the modules are also made of ABS plastic. You'll want to consider professional installation if you don't have the proper tools.

Customer Q&A

3 questions already asked

Q
The dimensions are as given but the speaker hole is 5.5 inches. How does one cut the proper hole for a 6.5 inch speaker?

A
These RetroSound RPOD6A's have a hole cutout that is designed the Retrosound R-652n's which have a smaller (around 5") hole cutout. To use most universal 6.5" and 6 3/4" the hole does need to be opened up to around 5.6". Carefully removing some extra material with a rotary tool like the Performance Tool W50031 in the link below for reference would be a great choice! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_439W50031/Performance-Tool-W50031.html

Q
Can these be mounted outside? Are they protected from UV damage? I want to mount speakers on the outside of a cargo trailer.

A
These Retrosound RPOD6A surface-mount speaker pods are ABS plastic and can be used outside, though not specifically designed for outdoor use. These have no UV protection but can be painted. If you are installing in a high-sun environment, just spray on a coat of additional protection before install.
