About the RetroSound R-TB8

Dave Delamere

Add speakers where there were none

Pardon the pun, but you should think outside the box when it comes to applications for RetroSound's R-TB8 full-range speaker boxes. Got a pickup truck with limited space behind the seats? Maybe you're driving a fleet or work van with no speakers at all (the horror!)? Or perhaps you have a hatchback or an SUV that needs a bigger sound. Pair an amplifier up with these speaker boxes, and your vehicle has an instant big-time audio upgrade. Each of the boxes includes an efficient 8" paper woofer for solid bass and midrange, while the silk dome tweeters deliver smooth highs. Top-mounted ports give you some placement and mounting flexibility, while still allowing the air to move freely.

The nitty gritty

The R-TB8 boxes handle 175 watts RMS each, so you'll want to consider an amplifier to deliver the power to get these workhorses going. Heck, even if you don't have a car stereo, you could use a car amplifier equipped with Bluetooth® to use your smartphone as your music source and volume control. The durable carpet and attached grille on each box will protect them from damage.

Yes. But I go not recommend them. Very poor sound quality even with a great receiver

They seem to work fine at low-volume without an amp. I will probably look at adding an amp in the future.Enter an answer to this question.

I have a 2004 Taurus. Door component speakers figured out. I need a based suggestion for the the rear deck. You have the sevier mids that are 8 inched are those like a woofer plays mids and low lows. Will they hit. Do I need to get a full blown woofer instead?

I put these speakers in the cab of a work truck. The sound very good but the stereo does not have enough power make a lot of bass. I would recommend bass speakers. These seem to be good for mid bass.
