    Audio Section

Hybrid Digital Amplification: NAD has moved away from the old-fashioned power-hungry linear power supplies and Class AB output stages that waste nearly half of the energy consumed and produce heat rather than sound. Instead, NAD has developed even better performing circuits based on switch mode power supplies and Class D output stages. Once thought to be inferior to traditional topologies, this new Hybrid Digital Amplifier design is very linear over a wide bandwidth and provides consistent performance into all speaker loads, providing a dramatic advancement over previous Class AB and Class D amplifier designs.

    • Customized Hypex UcD Output Stage: The C 368 BluOS 2i uses a customized version of the proven Hypex UcD output stage operating in a fully balanced bridge configuration. This allows for massive power with nearly un-measurable distortion and noise in the audible range. Every detail of this design has been carefully planned and perfectly executed to deliver every last drop of performance.
    • Sophisticated Power Supply: The power supply is capable of 80 watts continuously and over 120 watts instantaneously to allow for short-term musical transients. It can operate with any AC mains voltage from 100 to 240 volts and provides pure DC power to all the various stages of the C 368 BluOS 2i. This highly efficient supply also provides near perfect regulation of voltage across a wide range of conditions and provides a solid noise-free foundation for the amplifying stages.

Full Disclosure Power (FDP): NAD uses Full Disclosure Power (FDP), the most demanding criterion for performance measurement. FDP specifies distortion under the most extreme conditions of low impedance loads and frequency extremes, rather than the simple and easy 1kHz @ 8 ohms test quoted by many of other manufactures. NAD uses this stricter performance criterion because it more closely matches the demands of real music and real loudspeakers. Maintaining specified distortion at 4/8Ω and at 20-20kHz is a much more difficult achievement. The benefit of NAD's Full Disclosure Power is the total elimination of audible distortion at any listening level. This provides pinpoint imaging and realism with music and movies alike.

    • Continuous Power:
      • Stereo: 80 watts x 2-channel (@ 20-20kHz, into 4Ω or 8Ω, at 0.03% THD, with both channels driven)
      • Bridged: 300 watts x 1-channel (@ 20-20kHz, into 8Ω, at 0.03% THD)
    • IHF Dynamic Power:
      • Stereo: 250W into 2Ω / 200W into 4Ω / 120W into 8Ω
      • Bridged: 560W into 4Ω / 400W into 8Ω

Bridge Mode: The C 368 BluOS 2i amplifier can be configured to be MONO (Bridge Mode), more than doubling its output power. This way, the C 368 BluOS 2i can be used as part of a high power stereo or home-theatre system, by connecting additional power amplifiers.

Binding Post Speaker Outputs: The amplifier features A & B speaker terminals to power two pair of loudspeakers. The speaker terminals consist of eight binding posts that will accept single banana plugs (single only), pin connectors, spade lugs, and bare wire (up to 10AWG). The amplifier supports 4Ω speakers when only one pair is connected, however, when two pair of speakers are connected a minimum impedance of 8Ω is recommended.

Discrete Headphone Amplifier: The NAD C 368 BluOS 2i incorporates a discrete headphone amplifier with low output impedance and very high output voltage capability, enough to drive even high impedance studio monitor headphones. Connecting a set of headphone to unit's front-panel 1/4" jack will mute the speaker outputs. Volume, tone, and balance controls are all operable during headphone listening.

Line Outputs: The C 368 BluOS 2i features a low impedance line-level stereo output that can connect to another other amplifier or powered subwoofer to extend the hybrid digital DAC amplifier's versatility. A 150Hz low-pass filter is activated when configured as a subwoofer out.

Tone Control: The NAD C 368 BluOS 2i hybrid digital DAC amplifier lets you adjust Bass (60Hz) & Treble (20kHz) from -7 to +7dB, as well as Balance between the left & right speakers (L10 to R10).

Filters: Filters provide easy bi-amplification or subwoofer integration by adding the required filters to redirect bass frequencies to the subwoofer. Select High Pass or Full Range. When High Pass is selected, low pass audio signals up to 150 Hz are sent to the C 368 BluOS 2i's subwoofer preout and high pass audio signals are sent to the C 368 BluOS 2i's amplifier section and speaker outputs. Select Full-Range to deliver audio signals with the whole frequency spectrum to the C 368 BluOS 2i's amplifier section and speaker outputs.

    Variety of Sources

Can I plug in my iPad to listen Apple Hi Res?
    burton  Nov 26, 2023
    1 answer
    A
The USB ports on the back of this unit do not support connection of an iPod/iPhone/iPad for music playback. You could connect via an analog RCA input, but this may not give the best sound quality.

    Q
From a related question, I understand the integrated BluOs module work as if a BlueSound Node was connected, i.e. create a multi-room system with my BlueSound PowerNode. In that case, can I transmit the phono input to my PowerNode across the multi-room system?
    bart  Jul 21, 2022
    1 answer
    A
The included BluOS module won't send the phono input sadly, Bart. NAD components using the BluOS MDC are unable to share their analog or digital inputs with other BluOS devices due to hardware limitations. It looks like only internet radio, online music services, Bluetooth & USB audio, plus music libraries (from computers and NAS drives). The Blusound Node in the link below's analog RCA input would be perfect for a turntable with a built in pre amp, or on the pre outs of your existing power unit if applicable. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_813NODEBK/Bluesound-NODE-Black.html

    Q
Why would I need a Bluesound accessory (like the Bluenode) if the amp has BluOS integrated into the unit?
    b24v10  Jul 19, 2022
    1 answer
    A
You do not need the Bluesound NODE in order to use BluOS with the NAD C368. The only instance you may integrate the NODE would be if you had another receiver you wanted to pair with the NAD which you could connect and both receivers could play the same content via BluOS.

I want to use this with Airplay. The Overview says that Airplay2 is via Firmware upgrade. Has that happened or is that in the future?

i have used Airplay to play once or twice to enhance the sound quality of a streaming live music concert. My household AV setup is fragmented, and my music area is not connected to a smart TV. So the answer is, you should be able to use Airplay. However, I am not well-versed in all the wireless options or setups that may be available. Enjoy your NAD. Great piece of equipment.

good question. I have no idea. this receiver is difficult at best to marry to AirPlay. We worked with the Crutchfield tech for hours to get this thing set up for AirPlay. Inconsistent...maybe, maybe not. Now...if we initiate Airplay on Bluetooth - the receiver will turn on and work. But it will not allow the IMAC, the receiver and another wireless speaker to play at once together. The BLUOS controller is worthless.

It hasn't on my unit yet. I might cancel my Tidal account if I could play Apple HiFi. There is a HUGE difference going through the NAD DAC from BluOS and just Bluetooth.

YES! The most recent version of the app software includes SiriusXM.

Yes. I am happy to say that SirusXM was very recently added to BluOS. It sounds quite nice through the NAD integrated amp. Paul

Follow up to the previous answer on SirusXm. This unit has superb sound quality for the money. The only complaint I have is setup and changing menu options is not intuitive. Go for it, just a big learning curve to figure out how it works off a cell phone.

Unfortunately, not a direct answer to the question, but I have used it successfully with Tidal (which is my go to source), Amazon Hi Def, and Spotify. These three sources worked well.

Does the subwoofer output has a variable or fixed volume?
    dennis  Jan 23, 2021

    A
The amplifier has a filter that will transfer low frequencies up to 150 Hz to the subwoofer and higher frequencies to the speakers. You can then control the volume using the subwoofer proprietary controls

    A
    Fixed.

    Q
How well would you expect MDC BluOS network connectivity to work if the amp is installed inside cabinetry? The slot for the amp is beneath a stone countertop. The slot is about 8 inches tall and open to the front -- no door or glass. Thanks

My setup is similar (tight shelves, no glass front, with TV cable box and Blu-ray player close above). I have had no issues with the output (obviously since those are direct speaker wires) or the control from my phone/Ipad. I do not yet have the amp playing wirelessly to speakers so can't comment on that part.

Can I connect this 368 to the c275bee for more power?

I'm not sure, but the C268 is actually meant to be a perfect companion to the 368. I believe that the combo gives you 300 watts per channel.

    Q
How do I plug in the 368 amplifier?. The plugs are different from anything I've seen. And any recommendations on the type of speaker cables to get because one is banana and the others on the amp are diferent?.
    michael  Jul 07, 2020
    1 answer
    A
The speaker terminals consist of eight binding posts that will accept single banana plugs (single only), pin connectors, spade lugs, and bare wire (up to 10AWG). The rear panel pic may be throwing you off a little. There is a center plug on the posts that can be pulled out to accept a banana plug. The post also unscrews to accept bare wire.

Not at my lake house where my NAD 368 BluOS is plugged in. I would be guessing but the apps should allow you treble and bass adjustment. I do know this is great sound system with PBS outdoor speakers. UNBELIEVABLE SOUND! Thanks
