Features

Amplifier Power Ratings:

  • At 14.4 volts: >80 dB S/N, 1% THD+N
    • 4Ω: 600 watts RMS
    • 3Ω: 800 watts RMS
    • 2Ω: 1,000 watts RMS
  • At 12.5 volts: >80 dB S/N, 1% THD+N
    • 4Ω: 500 watts RMS
    • 3Ω: 650 watts RMS
    • 2Ω: 800 watts RMS

Clipping LED: Using a 50 Hz sine-wave test tone recorded at 0 dB reference level (not included), the clipping LED helps you set the gain control to the maximum unclipped level.

Low Pass Crossover: The 12dB/octave low-pass filter is always engaged; it cannot be bypassed. The crossover point is continuously variable from 50-500 Hz.

Bass Boost: The bass boost circuit is variable from 0 to +12dB. The boost is centered at 45Hz.

Protection Circuitry: The JD1000/1's protection circuitry automatically turns the amplifier off if thermal limits are exceeded, a short circuit is detected in the speaker wiring, or the input voltage drops below 11 volts.

Wired Remote: An optional RBC-1 Remote Level Control (sold separately) can be added, allowing you to adjust the amp's output level from the front of the vehicle.

Controls:

  • Input Sensitivity: rotary control; used to match your source unit's output voltage to the input stage of the amplifier for maximum clean output; the range of the dial depends on how the Input Voltage switch is set
  • Input Voltage: 2-position switch:
    • Low: input sensitivity control (gain) range is 200mV-2V; used with the preamp output of typical aftermarket radios
    • High: input sensitivity control (gain) range is 800mV-8V; used with speaker level outputs and high output preamps
  • Low Pass Crossover Frequency: rotary control; continuously variable from 50-500 Hz
  • Turn-on Mode: 3-position switch:
    • Remote: use when the source unit has a +12 volt remote turn-on wire (preferred method)
    • Offset: the amp reads a small DC signal typical on the speaker level output of factory radios (senses the offset on the left input)
    • Signal: detects a midrange speaker level signal on the input; turns off after approximately 30 seconds with no signal
  • Bass Boost: rotary control; continuously variable from 0 to +12 dB

Connections:

  • Power: The power, ground, and remote turn-on connections are set-screw terminals:
    • Power and Ground: accept up to 4-gauge wire (4-gauge minimum recommended); the included 3mm hex key is used to tighten/loosen the set-screws
    • Remote Turn-on: accepts up to 10-gauge wire (18-gauge minimum recommended); the included 2.5mm hex key is used to tighten/loosen the set-screw
Note: The amplifier is not equipped with a fuse. An external 80-amp fuse (not included) must be installed on the power wire. If a wiring kit is used which includes a fuse with a value other than 80-amps, the original should be replaced with an 80-amp fuse.
  • Subwoofer Output Terminals: The subwoofer outputs are set-screw terminals. They accept up to 8-gauge wire (16-gauge minimum recommended). There are two pair of outputs, internally wired in parallel, making it easy to connect two subwoofers. The included 2.5mm hex key is used to tighten/loosen the set-screws.
  • Signal Inputs: The stereo RCA input jacks accept either preamp or speaker level signals. When connecting speaker level signals, a speaker wire to RCA adapter is useful. The left and right channels are internally summed to mono.
  • Preamp Outputs: The stereo RCA preamp outputs pass the signal connected to the RCA inputs, so another amplifier can be added easily. The output is not affected by the JD1000/1's gain, crossover, or bass boost controls. The preamp output signal is buffered to prevent noise.

Note: When the input voltage switch is set to Low, the voltage of the RCA output matches the input; when set to High, the output voltage is attenuated -12 dB.

  • Remote Level Control: The RJ-25 connection is used for the optional optional RBC-1 wired remote.

Q
This amp is 600 rms at 4ohms, what does the watts drop to if I hook up a kicker comp c 12 to 8ohm?
cam  Sep 03, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Cam, and thank you for your question. Most car amplifier will not have an 8 ohm rating. This JL Audio does not. The power at 8 ohms will be anywhere between 300-400 watts.

Q
Would this power 2 Kenwood Excelon Motorsports XM1041 10 inch 4 ohm subs?
derek  Aug 25, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Derek, and thank you for your question. The subs are rated for 300 if they are in some type of enclosure. Free air, you want to give them less. This amp would give 500 watts to each. Thats too much power in a sealed box let alone a free air install.

Q
which shallow subwoofers are idicated for this amp??
adolfo s  Mar 30, 2023
1 answer
A
You have a few options here Adolfo, depending on your overall system goals. If you have space for dual 12"s, I suggest the Alpine Type-R RSW12D2 in the link below. These can handle 600-watts RMS each and would be a great match to the JL amp. The Kicker 48CWRT122 in the second link below is also a great option and can handle 500-watts each as well! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_500RSW12D2/Alpine-RS-W12D2.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_20648CT122/Kicker-48CWRT122.html

Q
I have 2 12 jl w6 and a class d mono 1000.1 and it keeps throwing my amp into protect mode?
kenny  Jul 22, 2022
1 answer
A
If your subs aren't wired correctly that could be causing the amp to go into protect mode. The amp is only stable at 2 ohms, so if you've got your subs wired down to 1 ohm that will overheat the amp. If you bought this from Crutchfield and need tech support, you can find the tech support phone number on your invoice or by logging into your account and accessing the "orders" tab. If you didn't buy this from Crutchfield you can also reach out to JL Audio for troubleshooting.

Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp for your subs I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.

Hi, i purchased (2) 10 inch JLW3v3's, and a JL JX1000D from Cruthfield recently. It seems that the subwoofers distort too quickly (with minimal gain). I remember having these subs and could feel the bass more than hear it. These I can hear but not feel like I remember. What could I be doing wrong maybe with wiring or something else? Thank you

What box are you using for the subs? Do you have the proper amount of air space? I always start with all the gains at zero and adjust up with the volume up at a good level. Adjust to the clip light. That amp is rock solid. Also check that you wired your speakers correctly especially if you have. Dual VC speaker I am running 2 JL12W6 with that same amp and they thump very well. I also used the amp control knob.

Q
What is the best way to get maximum clear power from my JD1000/1 amp to my single 10W7AE3 sub? I want it fine tuned for maximum performance
greg  Nov 09, 2021
2 answers
A
Well this amp shows RMS 1000w at 2 ohm and 600w at 4 ohm. So I imagine you'd get 800w for your 3 ohm woofer (might check with Crutchfield specialist on that). The amp has a red clipping indicator light built into the gain knob, so follow the gain adjustment procedure as follows: disconnect sub wires and turn system volume up 2/3 to 3/4 max volume. Play a bass testing track and turn gain up until the knob flashes red during heavy bass. From there, dial the gain back slightly until red light stops. Turn system volume back down, hook sub speaker wires back up and adjust your low pass and bass booster to personal preference while music is playing. That clipping indicator on the gain know makes it easy!

Not much adjustment on the jl jd1000, best thing u can do is have a solid 1.5 ft3 vented box with 2 gage power wire and solid ground, turn input sens on low, gain 3/4 of the way up and bass boost up to 20% no higher itll distort then. and your free. at around 85/90 max.expensive subs need a little bit more quality of an amp for more adjustment but thats the best ure gonna do with the jd 1000

Q
If I turn up the bass boost on my 1000 watt Jl amp is it bad for stealth box 2 10s jl?
countrystyle  May 14, 2021
1 answer
A
Turning your bass boost all the way up is never really a great idea, Bass boost should only be really used to help low signal strength and even then shouldn't be cranked all the way up. Especially in your stealthbox, you are going to create a grast desl of distortion and risk blowing your subs with constant high volume play. If its not hitting hard enough with the 1000 all the way up ghen u might want to move to a single 12" or my favorite a 15" and you will be better suited. A capacitor is always a solution if u r draining thd power from ure car slso

Q
How would this do with a ported box since it has no sub sonic filter?
jose luis  Dec 11, 2020
2 answers
A
the amp hits hard, so it wouldn't matter with it being ported or sealed.
james  Dec 22, 2020
A
The amp would not be able to cut out frequencies below the porting frequency which still works; just does not reduce the audio range below that which the port enhances. Also, it is possible to use crossovers in gear before the amp achieving the same result. We have advisors that you can reach by calling 1-800-324-9695 who will be happy to discuss your goals for the system to give you a personal recommendation

Hi, this amp would be a little much for them, if you run them in 2ohm ure asking for trouble in my opinion i would go with a 600 watt amp the alpine 600 watt mono amp is a great amp to use on them!

Yes I think it would be it over power my 2 10 4ohms
jeff  Dec 07, 2020

Not at all. I installed the exact same components and am extremely satisfied. If I had more room I would have used 12" Sub, but these speakers can handle that amp without any issues.
todd  Dec 07, 2020

My radio installer recommended that I get this amp for my 2 subs but I haven't installed them yet. Ask Crutchfield techs. They're pretty knowledgeable about what they sell.

Q
Which model would be better between JD1000 or RD1000 ? to push two Kicker 44CVX122 CompVX 12" Dual 2-Ohm Voice Coils.
gg831  Aug 02, 2020
1 answer
A
Both of those offer the same power ratings, the RD just has some additional usability features. Overall, with two of those kickers, you have a system capable of 1500w RMS, but either of those amps only has a max RMS rating of 1000w and even that depends on how you plan on wiring the subs together. Check with a Crutfield specialist, but I'm pretty sure to use those amps and fully power those subs, you would have to have each sub in its own separate box on its own individual amp. But if you're wiring the subs together in the same box (which is the usual), you're going to need an amp with a much higher power rating to fully power the system.

I'm no pro, but this would power that sub. I'd say it's a good match. Shouldn't be too much to overload the driver.

Hi, I can't answer your question with certainty because I still have not hooked my gear up because of back ordered parts. However, I did research your sub and if it were me, I think I would go with the JL HD1200/1 or the JL1200/1v3 being that your sub can handle up to 2000 watts peak. Sounds to me like you want big bass, and I would go big or go home. Plus these two amps handle 1.5 to 4 ohms!!!! Just my opinion.

Ofcourse with JL you get the best.. The JD1000/1 has plenty of power. Paired with those subs, your not gonna find a better sound anywhere else. The sub has a very tight, clean bass. I run them both my boat and my truck. You will not be disappointed.

Hi Joel, the JL Audio JD1000/1 amplifier does not come with a remote bass knob. You would need to make a separate purchase of the JL Audio RBC-1 remote to use with this amp.
