Q
will this downmix dolby digital?

I cannot tell you. I simply use this to connect the optical output from a LG TV to the RCA inputs on an older Yamaha receiver. The TV sound needs to be muted as there is a slight delay to the receiver and the sound is a bit out of sync.

I purchased and installed this CS-DAC2 a couple months ago. I do just leave it on and assume it goes into a sleep mode. It has worked great though there is a bit of a delay in the sound with my TV so you will want to mute the TV when using this through a stereo. Good luck!

Will this work with samsung 4k tv ?

Hi, it did work connecting my digital amplifier (Arcam A18) to my new Samsung Q80T 4K TV but some of the sound seemed a bit delayed between the TV sound and my external B&W front side speakers when getting the Samsung voice response after using the microphone to ask the TV questions. I ended up deciding to get a new AV receiver and using an HDMI cable to connect. Alas, it still has the same odd sound issue from the Samsung assistant. At least my new Yamaha RX-S620 receiver

Works with my 2019 Sony 4k TV. You just need a digital optical out port on the TV. Great purchase to run sound exclusively through an older reciever and speakers.
