    Android Auto & Apple CarPlay

Android Auto: The Boss Elite BE7ACP receiver supports the Android Auto app for Android smartphones running OS Oreo 8.0 and newer. Your compatible Android smartphone must be connected to the Boss receiver's USB port via the the USB cable that came with your smartphone (a USB extension cable may be required and sold separately), plus be paired via Bluetooth. Android Auto extends the Android platform into your car in a way that's purpose-built for driving and automatically brings you useful information and organizes it into a simple on-screen user interface. It's designed to minimize distraction so you can stay focused on the road ahead. Features of Android Auto include -

    • Google Assistant: The Boss receiver enhances your Android Auto experience even more by incorporating Google Assistant using the head unit's external microphone and your car speakers for voice command and text-to-speech, which makes using Android Auto and all of its integrated applications fast, easy, and safe. You will need to press the "mic" button or say "OK Google" to activate the Google Assistant. Use the Google Assistant to make a call, send a message, reply to a message, get driving directions, or listen to music.
    • Google & Waze Maps: Use Google Maps to get where you're going with on-screen maps, voice-guided navigation, live traffic information, lane guidance, and more. Select your destination by using the head unit's touchscreen or just say where you want to go through the unit's external mic and Google Speech Technology. You can even listen to music from your Android Auto device or other connected source device while using Google Maps. If you prefer, you can switch over to a simpler version of the community-based Waze navigation app (version 4.27 or higher).
    • Phone & SMS: With Android Auto you get access to your contacts and messages through the Boss receiver while keeping your eyes on the road. Use the unit's external mic and Google Speech Technology to make a phone call, or have your text-messages read aloud to you while you concentrate on the road ahead; you can even reply to texts via voice command.
    • Music: Access your Android smartphone's music library through the Boss receiver via YouTube Music. You'll be able to browse music like you do on your smartphone with song/artist information display and album art. Use the receiver's touchscreen to select songs or just say what song you want to listen to through the head unit's external mic and Google Speech Technology. You also get access to online music and radio stations from Amazon Music, Tidal, Pandora, Spotify, iHeart Radio, Slacker Radio, & Tune-In. Music apps include song and station browsing, plus song/artist information and album art or station logo. Click here for a list of all compatible app for Android Auto.

    Notes:

    • Make sure you plug in your Android smartphone to the BE7ACP's rear-panel USB port labeled "Apple CarPlay/Android Auto" with a USB-IF certified cable (not compatible with the USB port labeled "USB/Charging"). Use a USB cable that is under 6' long and avoid using any extension cable.
    • The initial setup for Android Auto requires that your vehicle be stopped and in park or have the parking brake engaged.
    • Bluetooth hands-free phone and wireless music streaming cannot be used while Android Auto is being used with a connected Android smartphone. You cannot have an Android Auto smartphone and Apple CarPlay iPhone plugged in at the same time.
    • Click here to learn more About Android Auto and to see what phones are compatible.

Apple CarPlay: Apple CarPlay is a smarter, safer way to use your USB-connected iPhone 5 or newer (running iOS 7.1+) with Lightning-connector in the car, while you stay focused on the road. Apple CarPlay takes the things you want to do with your iPhone while driving and integrates them into the Boss Elite BE7ACP. Apple CarPlay offers an incredibly intuitive way to make calls, view maps, listen to music, and access messages from your compatible iPhone through the Boss Elite BE7ACP in-dash receiver. With Apple CarPlay, you can control these functions from the BE7ACP receiver's 7" touchscreen or activate Siri for minimized distraction.

    • Maps: Through Apple CarPlay, the power and simplicity of Apple Maps comes to your dashboard; complete with turn-by-turn direction, traffic conditions, and estimated travel time. You can enter a new destination or choose a favorite or recent destination using the head unit's touchscreen or by simply asking Siri. CarPlay can also predict where you most likely want to go using addresses from your email, text messages, contacts, and calendars. If you have iOS 12.0 or newer on your iPhone with the latest version of Google Maps or Waze, you can choose to navigate via Google Maps or Waze instead of CarPlay. Google Maps and Waze do not support Siri voice control, but will have their own proprietary voice control function which has to be accessed through a touchscreen icon on the receiver.
    • Phone: With Apple CarPlay, you can use the BE7ACP's interactive touchscreen or ask Siri to make calls, return calls, and check voicemail. To dial a phone number, simply tap the "Phone" icon and Siri will ask you who you want to call. Using the touchscreen you can manually enter a phone number from the on-screen keypad, scroll through contacts, or select from recent and missed calls. In addition, you get access to your voicemails via touchscreen and Siri. When a call comes in, simply tap the "Phone" icon to answer. You'll carry on your side of the conversation through the included external microphone, while the other party is heard through your vehicle's speakers. You can emphasize or weaken the volume level the microphone.
    • Text Messages: Apple CarPlay also lets you enjoy a better and safer way of text messaging with friends and family when you're on the road, through the Boss receiver and Siri. Through your voice commands, Siri can send, read, and reply to your text messages so that you never have to glance at your phone while behind the wheel. When a new message comes in a banner will come across the screen and Siri will read back the message for you. Text messages cannot be read or typed from the head unit's touchscreen to prevent driver distraction.
    • Music Library: CarPlay lets you access your music in your iPhone's music library, plus Apple Music from the Boss Elite BE7ACP. You can browse your music by Playlist, Artist, Song, etc.. just like you would on your iPhone from the BE7ACP's touchscreen. You can also use Siri to find and play back your music. The BE7ACP's touchscreen will display song/artist information, as well as album art in the background. Tap the Now Playing icon on the Boss receiver's capacitive touchscreen and see song, artist, album information with Album Art displaying in the background. From the Now Playing screen you also get basic playback function, like Play/Pause, Previous Next/Track, Fast Forward/Rewind, and Repeat/Shuffle.
    • Audio Apps & Podcasts: CarPlay also supports additional audio apps that you've downloaded to your iPhone for enjoying music, podcasts, sports, news, and audiobooks - including Pandora, Tidal, Spotify, iHeart Radio, TuneIn Radio, Slacker Radio, Vox, Stitcher, MLB.com At Bat, CBS Radio News, NPR One, OverCast, Audiobooks.com & Audible (subscriptions and fees may app). Control them from the head unit's touchscreen or Siri just like you would from your iPhone. Your iPhone's touchscreen remains unlocked during CarPlay connection, so you are able to access additional music apps and listen to them through the Boss receiver; however these apps offer no control or display information from the head unit's touchscreen.
    • Apple HomeKit Compatible: CarPlay now supports control of Apple HomeKit enabled devices (sold separately) through Siri. Using CarPlay in your vehicle, you can ask Siri to close or open your garage door, turn on or off home lighting, increase or decrease the temperature of your thermostat, as well as control select functions of other Apple HomeKit enabled devices and appliances. Click here for a list of compatible Apple HomeKit products.
    Notes:
    • Apple CarPlay is compatible with iPhone 5 or newer running iOS 7.1 or newer.
    • Make sure your plug in your iPhone 5 or newer to the BE7ACP's rear-panel USB port labeled "Apple CarPlay/Android Auto" with an Apple certified Lightning-to-USB cable (not compatible with the USB port labeled "USB/Charging"). Use a USB cable that is under 6' long and avoid using any extension cable.
    • Bluetooth hands-free phone and wireless music streaming cannot be used while Apple CarPlay is being used with a connected iPhone.
    • You cannot have an Android Auto smartphone and Apple CarPlay iPhone plugged in at the same time.
Cellular & Data Plan Requirements: Access to CarPlay and Android Auto apps will depend on the availability of a cellular and/or WiFi network for purposes of allowing your iPhone or Android smartphone to connect to the Internet. Your compatible Apple or Android device will need an active Data Plan account with connection to the Internet via 3G, EDGE, LTE (4G), or WiFi.

Smartphone Charging: The Boss Elite BE7ACP will also charge (5V/1.5A) your Android Auto compatible Android smartphone or Apple CarPlay compatible iPhone while connected via USB with the vehicle's ignition switch set to the 'ACC' or 'On' position.

    Built-in Bluetooth

Bluetooth 4.2+EDR: The Boss Elite BE7ACP is equipped with built-in Bluetooth 4.2+EDR allowing you to make and receive phone calls wirelessly through the receiver; as well as stream music wirelessly from your smartphone to the head unit. In order to use Bluetooth wireless technology, your phone must also be Bluetooth compatible and be able to interpret certain profiles. This unit is compatible with the following Bluetooth Profiles:

    • Hands-Free Communication: HFP 1.6 (Hands Free Profile), PBAB 1.0 (Phone Book Access Profile).
    • Audio Streaming: A2DP 1.2 (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), AVRCP 1.4 (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile).
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Boss receiver.

Secure Simple Pairing: With Secure Simple Pairing (SSP), you can easily pair a Bluetooth enabled phone to the Boss head unit without having to enter pin codes or go through complicated settings. You can pair up to 5 devices, but only 1 device can be connected and used at a time. When an already paired Bluetooth device is in close proximity to the receiver, the auto connection function automatically connects the unit.

Hands-Free Communication (External Mic): The Boss Elite BE7ACP allows for wireless communication between the head unit and your Bluetooth enabled smartphone. Thanks to the latest Hands-Free Profile (HFP 1.6) with wideband speech capability, the BE7ACP provides more natural sound quality and details during wireless calls. The receiver will display the caller's phone number and an audible ring tone will be heard through your vehicle's speaker during an incoming call. You can manually answer or end a call through the head unit's front-panel controls (or set the receiver to automatically answer the call). The BE7ACP allows you to carry on the phone conversation using the included external microphone and your car audio speakers. Your music will mute automatically during a call. You can make a call using the Boss receiver's LCD touchscreen via its on-screen keypad, your phone's transferred phonebook, or a list of your most recent calls.

Wireless Audio Streaming: The Boss Elite BE7ACP allows wireless play back of stored music and music apps from your Bluetooth enabled smartphone, tablet, or other device using a Bluetooth connection. You can control basic music playback functions, like Play/Pause & Previous/Next Track from the Boss head unit (advanced music browsing will still be done from your Bluetooth source device). The unit will also display song/artist information (no Album art).

Note: When an incoming call or outgoing call is in progress from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, audio streaming will be paused so you can take your call. Once the call is finished, your streaming music will resume.
    USB/microSD/AV Connectivity

USB MSC Playback: The Boss Elite BE7ACP is equipped with a rear-panel USB (type-A) port attached to the rear-chassis via a hardwired 39" pigtail (labeled "USB/Charging"). Note: This USB port (labeled "USB/Charging") is not compatible with Apple iOS devices, Android devices, USB hubs, or card-readers.

    Q
I want to add this to a 2008 Lexus RX 350, which does not have a USB port. Where will the USB cord come out, for me to then plug into my phone, if I install this?
    katie  Feb 26, 2024
    1 answer
    A
Greetings Katie. Thank you for your question. There are two 39 inch USB cords on the back of the stereo. They do not go to any specific vehicle location. If you needed something more permanent we have accessories (not vehicle specific), to mount somewhere in/on the dash or center console.

Any pictures of this in a vw passat sel?
    devin  Feb 19, 2024
    1 answer
    A
We do not have photographs of every vehicle the Boss BE7ACP-C fits in posted on our website, Devin. Use our online Vehicle Guide below to enter your Passat's year and specific trim. Choose the Boss radio, then select your installation kit that best fits your preferences and needs. Once we show the package, you may be able to click on the owner's manual link for the dash kit specifically (look for the link under the "what's in the box" section of the dash kit's web page) and there may be a visual of what it will look like installed in your vehicle. If you need any help selecting the right install kit or placing your order, do not hesitate to call us at 1-800-324-9695 and an Advisor would be happy to help! https://www.crutchfield.com/m_266150/Car-Stereos.html

What is the CWC harness for?
    chrissyw  Feb 16, 2024
    1 answer
    A
We do not recognize what you are referring to by the CWC harness. If you mean the SWC input, then that's the wire used to get steering wheel radio control commends into the radio form an SWC interface. We have advisors that can be reached by calling 1-800-324-9695 that can help you get the correct wiring to install it into your vehicle.

    Q
Before deciding whether or not to purchase this radio,Can the camera be installed on a Jeep wrangler spare tire?
    angelo  Feb 11, 2024
    1 answer
    A
The included camera with the Boss Audio BE7ACP-C is designed to mount to existing license plate mount locations, Angelo. If you wanted to mount the camera inside your spare tire on your Jeep Wrangler, you would need a custom mounting solution. We may have a spare tire mount camera compatible with your specific Jeep that you can pair with the Boss BE7ACP radio. Use our online Vehicle Guide in the link below to enter your exact year and trim, and we will list all compatible options. If you need any help selecting your radio package or getting your order placed, do not hesitate to call us at 1-800-324-9695 and an Advisor would be happy to help! https://www.crutchfield.com/m_266150/Car-Stereos.html

    1 answer
    A
You will need some vehicle specific install gear to install the Boss Audio BE7ACP-C in any vehicle, Pierre. It looks like the install bits to retain the factory Shaker 500 amp and subwoofer would cost an additional $64.98 right now when paired with the radio. Make sure to use our online Vehicle Guide in the link below when building your radio package. Will the controls on the steering wheel work with this its 2012 Chrysler 200?
    bobcar  Feb 06, 2024
    1 answer
    A
The Boss Audio BE7ACP-C does support steering wheel control retention when used with the correct installation interface, Bob. I do show interfaces listed for both convertible and sedan trim levels for 2012 200's that will retain those features. Make sure to enter your vehicle's exact trim into our online Vehicle Guide in the link below and we will list all available installation interfaces. You have a few options here, Steven. You can use a high-quality Lightning to USB-A cable like the Scosche Strikeline in the first link below. You could also consider alternate radios like the Sony XAV-AX6000 in the second link below that has wireless Carplay features, and charges with a USB-C connection! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_142I3B10SG/Scosche-StrikeLine-USB-A-to-Lightning-Cable-10-foot-Gray.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_158XAV6000/Sony-XAV-AX6000.html

    Q
Can it be fitted to plug into a Kubota adapter?
    chad  Dec 19, 2023
    1 answer
    A
We cannot provide any fitment guarantees for Kubota tractors when attempting to install the Boss BE7ACP-C, Chad. It's possible you may be able to source an integration harness from a Kubota specific supplier if you want to swap to a radio that physically fits. The Boss radio comes with a harness with bare wire connections that can be wired to compatible installation adapters/interfaces. https://farmradiosupply.com is usually my go-to when trying to source tractor specific wiring adapters for aftermarket radios. We of course cannot guarantee any compatibility with third-party retailers, but they may have an option that works for your Kubota. I hope this helps!

    Q
Before deciding whether or not to purchase this I have a question regarding this information: "You'll need a wired connection to your parking brake to access settings and other features on this receiver. Your parking brake must be connected and set in order to view video on its screen." Does this mean that when using this device with apple car play the navigation screen of the iPhone will not be displayed on the devices screen when the car is driving (parking brake is not engaged)?
    alisa  Dec 09, 2023
    1 answer
    A
Greetings Alisa. That is a great question. Supported Carplay apps are not part of that parking brake lockout. Video input from a USB stick would be like a movie, or video clip.. All supported Carplay apps will be on screen while driving. Settings however will not be available unless you have the parking brake engaged.

    Q
According to the info on your site, this model has a dedicated USB port to play from mass storage. iPods are mass storage units, but the details page states that iPods are not compatible with this radio. Do all mass storage units play through this port, besides iPods? If I'm using my phone for navigation via USB & Bluetooth, using Android Auto, can I still play my iPod through the A/V inputs on the rear, by using a conversion cable to mini jack (3.5 mm) input; or is this input formatted only to play videos? It seems that an analog cable would be the only option with radio to play iPods, all other things considered. Please advise.
    carlos  May 12, 2023
    1 answer
    A
Greetings Carlos, and thank you for your question. It gets to a certain point where things that were supported, are no longer supported. Ipods for instance, Bluetooth killed the Ipod, not much of any stereos support the Ipod any longer. Iphones since the Lightning upgrade are Carplay supported of course. What they mean by mass storage device in this case is a thumb drive, or portable hard drive. An Ipod/MP3 player can still come out the headphone jack and into a an auxiliary input. You just have to control the device on the device, not the stereo screen. Unfortunately thats how we have to play back an Ipod from this point.

Does anyone know why the navigation voice on Apple Maps, Waze and any other navigation app doesn't come through? I have had the apps open on phone and screen. All volumes up loud. But still no voice. It does dim the music when the directions are supposed to come through but no voice.
    mike  May 06, 2023
    1 answer

I would be happy to help, Mike. This could be a setting in your phone that has changed due to a possible update. On Apple Maps, you can adjust this simply by just tapping on the speaker icon at the top right of the Maps app when you're actively following directions. You can tap on it and adjust to either no spoken directions, only for alerts, and spoken directions for everything. It's possible this setting was adjusted somehow, I hope this helps!

    paul  May 04, 2023
    1 answer
    A
Greetings Paul, and thank you for your question. The aftermarket stereos we carry are universal, not specific to any vehicle, so yea you will, be needing install gear. Dash mounting kit, wire adapter, and in some cases other adapter to retain certain factory features like steering wheel controls etc. If you have your VW listed on our site, and add the stereo to your cart the first thing that will pull up, says :you will need installation parts to install this", it will give you two options, and a button to see all install packages. If you did that, and scroll down, you will see check marks of what is retained, and X's for what you would lose.

Thos buttons cannot be turned off, however you can set up the stereo to auto dim those, as well as the screen as long as your vehicle supports auto dimming. If your factory radio auto dims when your headlights are on, this Boss will as well. You can also manually adjust the screen, and button brightness.

These are all good questions Darrin, but we will only answer with connecting this wire in the proper way, to your parking brake switch/plunger as detailed in our install directions. Failing to make this connection is not only a safety issue, on some radios it can limit the function or memory capability. priscilla  Dec 13, 2022

No big deal here, Priscilla. There is a little blue loop of wire on the camera wiring, if you click on the link for the radio below and select the 5th picture you can zoom in on the actual camera assembly and almost see it. This little wire has a couple of tags with print on it, and usually if the wire remains connected the camera flips one way, and if you cut the wire, it will flip the opposite way. Just locate where that is, and you should be able to flip the camera orientation. Is the package supposed to have wires to connect to the parking brake and reverse trigger? I did not receive additional wires, and it's unclear how to connect it without additional wires (apart from the harness).

This is the advantage on some installs of using our fantastic Readyharness service. It is an additional $24.99 at the time of purchase, but for vehicle installs that use a harness like the Metra 70-1721 in the link below we do add additional wire and posi-taps to make those connections easier for you if they are not located in the harness. For your install you will have to extend the wires from the radio for the parking brake and reverse trigger connections to the physical locations. This is also a big reason why we back all our packages with lifetime Technical Support. When you buy your gear from us and have any issues like this one, give our Technical Support team a call at 1-888-292-2575 and we can always help. Our guys can send you some additional wiring lengths to make those connections if you need, we are always here to help! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_120701721/Metra-70-1721-Receiver-Wiring-Harness.html

My 2013 ford focus sedan that has the common speaker popping issue through sync. I was wondering If I got an installation package that included sync if this issue would carry over to the new radio?
    coen  Oct 20, 2022

    A
It is possible that the speaker popping issue will remain if you continue to use SYNC with the new radio. That said, a new car stereo will encompass most (if not all) features that SYNC offered in a 2013 Focus. This means that although we could retain the SYNC feature, it would not need to be used in order for you to have the features you're accustomed to using.

Whats the difference between this one and the 850acp?
    anthony  Sep 12, 2022
    1 answer
    A
Greetings Anthony, and thank you for your question. The 850 ACP-c has a better radio tuner to pull in radio stations better, but the BE7ACP-C has a slightly bigger screen and adds an SD card slot.

i have a 2011 equinox will it work? what else do i need to order?
    shanna  Aug 08, 2022
    1 answer
    A
Greetings Shanna, and thank you for your question. It will work in the 2011 Equinox. The factory radio stays where it is, and gets disconnected. The Boss BE7ACP gets relocated to the lower dash where your storage pocket is now. You do need a wiring interface for the install as well, and depending on factory options AKA did you have factory navigation? Did you have the Pioneer audio system with factory subwoofer? We would need to know those answers to get you the right wire interface. You can call and speaker to one of our advisors at 800-324-9695 for help finding the right parts.

I have a 2017 Toyota Corolla L - whenever I go to the installation parts, both options say Bluetooth is not available? I thought the system came with bluetooth connection originally?
    patrick  Aug 04, 2022
    1 answer
    A
That is indicating that the OEM bluetooth system and microphone will not be retained. The new unit has it's own bluetooth system, and includes a new microphone.

    Q
How long is the cable for the backup camera? I have an 01 4runner will it fit without an extension?
    travis  Aug 02, 2022
    1 answer
    A
The cable that comes with the camera is 16.5 feet long. That does work for most vehicles but we do offer extension cables if you feel you need a longer cable. If you decide you need an extension cable you'll need barrel connectors to connect the extension cable: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_120RCABFN/T-Spec-RCA-Barrel-Connectors.html and here is the extension cable: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_120V10R9V/T-Spec-v10-Series-Video-Cable-9-foot.html. If you look under "add to cart" there are two other lengths available.

Do i need the backup cam the comes in the box? My Sentra already has a backup cam from factory.
    michael  Jul 22, 2022
    1 answer
    A
Depending on your year Sentra Michael, you might! If you punch your info into our online Vehicle Guide in the link below you can add the Boss BE7ACP-C to a potential package, and also see the features retained. If the backup cam is not specifically listed it won't be retained. We may or may not be able to keep the OEM backup cam, so you might need the BE7ACP-C camera bundle! IF you see that we can keep your original camera, you can always use the BE7ACP with no bundled cam in the second link below. https://www.crutchfield.com/m_266150/Car-Stereos.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_104BE7ACP/Boss-BE7ACP.html

Will this work with the factory speakers in a 2013 Nissan Altima? Sedan, 6-speaker, no Bose audio, no navigation. I would like to avoid replacing them if possible.
    garrett  Jun 29, 2022
    1 answer
    A
I do show that not only does the Boss BE7ACP-C fit in your 13 Altima sedan, you can use it with your factory speakers no problem. You'll need additional gear like a dash kit, wiring interface, antenna, adapter, and USB adapter. We do discount that gear 50$ when you pair it with the radio, and if you use our Vehicle Guide builder below on the web, we will make sure you get all the gear you need together. This Boss is a solid choice Garrett! If you'd rather give us a call to order we have Advisors ready at 1-800-324-9696. https://www.crutchfield.com/m_266150/Car-Stereos.html

If you press and hold the volume buttons, will it change the volume continuously? Or does it only change volume with one click/increment at a time? Being able to press and hold is my one condition for not having a knob. Seriously considering this unit otherwise.
    jeffrey joseph  Mar 29, 2022

If you hold it it goes up continuously but not very quickly, it's significantly faster to just click it repeatedly. You may be able to change this, but I haven't been able to find anything like that, it is one of the drawbacks of the units, unfortunately, it is a little obnoxious, but the rest of it is great. Hope this helps.

    ronnie  Nov 30, 2021

We do carry mounting kits and all the other vehicle specific installation gear needed to install this receiver into your pickup. There are a few color choices on the mounting kit as well as a few choices on the wiring interfaces. I recommend contacting an advisor by calling 1-800-324-9695 to discuss the specifics on the stock system in your XLT to get a personal recommendation on the gear needed to install it. There is a total of 21.5' of cabling included for the backup camera. We don't know exactly how long the cables need to be to from from the license plate to the dash and recommend measuring it. If that is not long enough, we also carry parts that can be used to extend the length of the backup camera cables

Does the radio come with bluetooth or do I need to get the wiring with bluetooth? And if so, does the bluetooth work at all for Apple CarPlay?
    abbyrags  Jul 08, 2021
    3 answers
    A
CarPlay requires your iPhone to be plugged in to the radio. The USB port is in the back of the radio, so best to plug one in and feed it under the dash. The receiver is Bluetooth enable for handsfree calls or Bluetooth music streaming from your device. Also, for the love of all that is good, buy the $25 ReadyHarness. Crutchfield solders all the wiring for you. It took me twice as long to install the receiver since I had to solder all the wires.

I purchased my item last year prior to the Pandemic. Life got busy and it's still in its shipping box, unopened and unloved. Some day I plan on installing the radio, when other priorities are fulfilled. Check your equipment for proper functioning. There's a fault somewhere in the intended circuitry that perhaps can be resolved using a laboratory grade oscilloscope. Good luck in your endeavors.

Yes, it will work. It will be much more clear but the the volume will be less because stock speakers are 2ohm whereas the aftermarket ones are 4ohm (twice the ohms = 1/2 the power). Get a small 4 channel amp, this does not have the power to push aftermarket speakers.

I've installed this unit twice now, on my personal 2001 Toyota Tundra, and on my friend's 2007 GMC Sierra. In both cases, the camera setup was pretty easy to go, assuming you purchase the Ready Harness from Crutchfield. This is worth EVERY PENNY and makes the install a lot easier. We plugged it all up and it worked great on the first try. The only hitch was that in BOTH cases, I needed to add about 3 feet of video cable length to make it to the back bumper. This was easily accomplished by grabbing a spare video RCA cable and extension adapter (which I had laying around). The power cable that comes with the unit was long enough, but not the video.

The system allows you to adjust the brightness overall and has an illumination control setting that adjusts for nighttime and daytime driving. I use it with car play almost exclusively and car play uses dark mode for the evening, so it works well for night driving.

Hi, Depends on your car. Removal of the old radio and hole in the dash. Purchase Crutchfield made elect. plug to fit radio one end your car plug on the other. Alternate to Crutchfield is cut and solder speaker wires if you know where they go. Run coax cable for back up camera with trigger wire to radio. Connect Camera to backup lights for Power. Microphone for phone near the driver. Purchase USB cable with plug in Mount it so you can plug your phone in for using apple play or android auto. You don't need usb if for Blue tooth phone only. But Blue tooth wireless will NOT put Nav. Maps and Internet on the Radio screen. Update to Boss spec: Your Android phone Must be 6.0 O.S. or higher for Android Auto usage. Don't know about Apple phones. Contact Crutchfield and buy the required cables and such to get outfitted. Disconnect your Car's battery while removing old radio and doing new wiring. Expect several hours work to make this look like a factory install. Trucks are a bit easier to install it in. It's not hard just sweat the details as you are standing on your head and looking for a way to route a wire. Cheers and good luck.

Yes! At the camera, connect wire in video cable to red wire in power cable, connect black wire in power cable to suitable ground. At the radio, connect wire in video cable to wire labeled rear camera output, plug in video cable to radio. Camera is powered on and displayed when AXXESS GM Data Interface AX-GMCL2 provides reverse to camera, or when you want to view the rear camera.

Great Question. In order to have the backup camera turn on automatically, you will need to connect the reverse wire from your car's wiring to the PAC wiring that connects to your radio head unit. When you shifter goes in reverse, the camera will turn on automatically.

It can do both. Connect the power wire from the camera to the 12volt rear camera output on the audio unit harness and you need to connect the reverse wire signal from the car to the unit. With those connections it will either display when shifted to reverse or when the camera button is pressed.

Regardless, in order to run the camera line into your vehicle, you will need to make some entry pilot hole for the cable. It is possible on your make and model of vehicle that you already have a rubber gromet somewhere on the undercarriage of the body (such as drain plugs) that you can strap the cable safely and run a small hole caulked afterward via that gromet. With mine, I simply made a small hole behind the license plate, installed a gromet, caulked it all up nice and neat, and ran it through the hatch paneling, through the side interior paneling down the driver's side, and then under the dash to the radio area. Clean, professional and you could not tell there even was an install. As a side note, be prepared to add extra wire or look into VGA extensions. There simply is not enough wire to complete a hatchback install and run it all the way to the stereo. My install was on a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer.

I have no idea. If you order the pre made harness you don't have to cut or splice any wires. You might have to cut the trim from the faceplate but the instructions will tell you to do so if needed. It's pretty simplistic.

The backup camera does have assistance lines. They are adjustable so you can change the zones to best suit your vehicle and risk tolerance. They do not curve with the turning of the wheel.

Will this unit enable SiriusXM? Is it included or does another device need to be added?

No. However if your phone has the SiriusXM app, and you are subscribed obviously, then you can simply use your phone to broadcast Sirius. I think the SiriusXM app will display in Android Auto and Apple Car Play but you will have to double check that for sure. If anything, you can always play the app via bluetooth through the bluetooth selection on the stereo.

No it does not, you would need a separate device to get Sirius XM on this radio.
